“We gossip about what things we don´t  know”

Linn Helen Haug, 18 yrs

The satisfaciton of living in K. place is generally low amongst youth, and many many of the youngsters will move out in due time. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily for the people in question, but the small town municipality of K. is left with a problem if they don´t…

A talk to the local youth revealed a that there´s actually plenty of stuff going on in the small town of K,  But the majority of activities are unknown to most youngsters, as they are usually cut off from the public scene. For example, different communities like e.g music/dance/performance/theatre groups operate seperated from one & each other, even though they share the same basic commitment of culture.

According to my informants, the fact that a lot of local groups never seem to interact makes room for uncertainty. Room for uncertainty creates room for gossip,  which is the no. 1 characteristica of the Norwegian village (troll)?

Following from this is a need to create open urban spaces for social interaction, so people can learn to stop gossiping & relate to one & eachother.

And I am off to map boredom, haha…
